This industrial policy should also include research into nuclear technology, aerospace and advances in pharmaceutical sciences. The state universities led by the UP should play a pivotal role as the policy would pole-vault them into the best universities not only in Asia but in the entire world.

As the architect of its industrial blueprint, the president must see to it that the departments of the government, private institutions and government corporations are in line with the agenda.

Half a century of good policy centered on industrialization could have propelled us as one of the world's superpowers.

But all is not lost if all Filipinos, not just the president, would turn around this undeserved and pathetic condition that we are into.

First in the order of the day must be the revision of the 1987 constitution that renounces war as instrument of national policy when all nation-states must be ready to defend their sovereignty against external aggression and internal subversion. Militarism goes hand-in-hand with industrialization.

These Chinese-descent Filipinos - the Cojuangcos - have benefited from their devious tactics of sucking the wealth of this country from the common people, their land and its resources. Their unconscionable greed is nauseating and now they wanted to claim the lands of the anacbanuas, the children of the land.

All their glories and their riches - the revolutionary taxes in 1898-1899 - had come from the toil, blood and sweat of ordinary people. Who's heir should be proud of that?

Now, Pnoy, the hacienda has sustained you and your family or clan for many years. It is time now to return it to its real owners and stop your kin from grabbing the lands in Pangasinan!
